How to create a Solana meme coin

A plain-English walkthrough of every field in the creator.

Before you start

You need a Solana wallet (Phantom, Solflare, Backpack and others all work) holding a little more than 0.3 SOL to cover the fee, network costs and rent. Have a square logo ready.

Step 1: Basics

Token name is the full name shown in wallets, up to 32 characters. Symbol is the short ticker, up to 8 characters; 3 to 5 letters is easiest to remember. Logo is a PNG, JPG, GIF or WEBP up to 5MB. Square images look best because wallets crop them to a circle.

Step 2: Supply

Decimals sets how finely a token can be split. 9 is the standard for meme coins, matching SOL. Use 0 if each token should be whole and indivisible. Total supply is how many tokens are created; 1,000,000,000 is common. Description tells people what your coin is about.

Step 3: Launch options

Social links (website, X, Telegram, Discord) are saved in the token metadata so explorers and trading sites can show them. Custom creator info replaces the default creator name with your own.

Revoke Freeze means nobody can freeze tokens in holders’ wallets. Revoke Mint fixes the supply forever. Revoke Update locks the name, logo and links. Traders check for these before buying, so most launches revoke at least freeze and mint. All three are permanent.

Sign and you’re done

Press Create Token and approve the single transaction in your wallet. Within seconds the token exists on Solana and the whole supply is in your wallet. To let people trade it, open a liquidity pool on the Manage Liquidity page.
